Smt. Chandramma Sagar, wife of the founder, was a Doctor by profession – a triple FRCS from London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. She was in the panel of Doctors for the President of India.

Students of Dayananda Sagar College of Pharmacy have always scored 80 % and above in the University and Board Examinations results. All our students have been well placed in reputed pharmaceutical companies, Research Labs both in India and Abroad. Few of our students have also pursued higher education in Universities Abroad.

Grants Received

Seminar Grant:

  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 75,000 from AICTE to conduct a National Seminar on “Designing and Synthesis of Novel Medicinal Compound by Microwave Techniques”.
  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 2, 00,000/- from AICTE to conduct staff development programme at National level.
  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of 5000/- from RGUHS to conduct seminar on Synthesis of Hetero cyclic compounds using microwave technique.
  • Mrs. Geetha K. M. Associate Professor, received a grant of Rs. 5000/- from RGUHS to conduct a seminar on clinical trials in India – The challenges.
  • Smt. Brahmani Priyadarshini Associate Professor, received a grant of Rs. 5000/- from RGUHS to conduct a seminar on Bio transformation in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Smt. Kalpana Divekar, Associate Professor, received a grant of Rs. 5000/- from RGUHS to conduct a seminar on “Novel methods of synthesis and screening of hetero cyclic compounds as possible anticancer agents.”
  • Dr. Alagarsamy, Professor, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 25000/- from RGUHS to conduct a National seminar on Emerging trends in Herbal drug technology.
  • Dr. Alagarsamy, Professor, DSCP received a grant of Rs. 5000/- from RGUHS to conduct a seminar on current approaches in advanced methods in herbal technology.

Travel Grant:

  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 40,728/- from AICTE, New Delhi, to attend and present a paper at the 67th International Congress of FIP at Beijing, China.
  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 20,000/- from RGUHS to attend and present a paper at the 67th International Congress of FIP at Beijing China.
  • Dr. V. Murugan, Principal, DSCP, received a grant of Rs. 20,000/- from DST, New Delhi to attend and present a paper at the 67th International Congress of FIP at Beijing China.

Details of Professional Programmes

Dayananda Sagar College of Pharmacy is planning to conduct AICTE sponsored faculty Development Programme in February 2008.

Guest Lectures and seminars from eminent personalities in the field of Pharmacy are arranged on a regular basis to give the better exposure for the students with respect to day to day developments in the Pharmaceutical Industry and Research.

Research articles pertaining to Pharmacy are being published regularly by our teaching faculty both in National and International Journals.

Teaching staff also take an active part in attending National and International Seminars, Workshops, Symposium etc., in India and Abroad.

Details of Conferences Conducted by the Institution

Seminar conducted at DSCP during 2007:

  • A three day National Seminar on “ Designing and Synthesis of Novel Medicinal Compounds by Microwave Technique” was conducted under the convenorship of Dr. Murugan from 8th to 10th June 2007.
  • A National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Herbal Drug Technology was held under the convenorship of Dr. Alagarsamy on March 24th 2007.

Details of funded projects:

  • Water sample Analysis from Antrix Corporation; ISRO, Department of space, Bangalore.
  • Star Drugs & Research labs limited Bangalore are performing some of the analytical work of the research project in DSCP.
  • Green Chem, Herbal Extracts & Formulations requested us to conduct Pre – clinical studies on following activities for some of their herbal Extracts.
    • Anti Diabetic activity
    • Boosting Female Libido
    • Appetite suppressant & weight reduction.
    • Enhancing memory power.

Details of Alumni:

We have started Alumni Association of Dayananda Sagar College of Pharmacy in the year 2006 annual meetings are conducted regularly and the Alumni datas are updated. Students take part actively in all the programmes during alumni meeting.

Details of Infrastructure:

The college of Pharmacy is housed in a stats of the art building which comprises Digital Class rooms, laboratories well equipped with sophisticated Instruments and equipments. The department also has a well stocked digital library and a modern computer lab.

Details of Industry – Academic Interactions:

  • Final year students of Pharmacy are taken to Industrial visits regularly. Some of the companies visited by our student in the past years include, KAPL, CIPLA, Eros Pharma, Anglo – French, Green – Chem, etc.
  • Reputed companies like German Remedies, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Himalaya Healthcare Ltd, Cipla and Wockhardt conduct campus interviews regularly in our institution and most of our students get placement.
  • We have received industrial PG projects from strides labs, Green Chem & Spirit and are pursuing the matter.

Extra curricular Activities:

  • Conducted a joint health surgery by St. John’s Hospital and Sagar Apollo Hospitals in Indiranagar area.
  • Won 1st Prize in inter college quiz conducted by PES college of Pharmacy as a part of “ ASPIRATION – 2006”.
  • Final year students went on an industrial trip to Karnataka Antibiotics Ltd., Peenya 2006.
  1. Won 1st Prize – Debate 2nd Prize - Elocution in “ EXCELSIOR-07” conducted by T- John College of Pharmacy 2007.
  2. Participated in intercollege group dance competition conducted by Acharya College of Pharmacy.

  • Through GRE & TOEFL exams several students have seeked admissions in US & UG for their higher studies and have been subsequently well placed
